Quanto di noi rimase è il risultato di una operazione di recupero e mappatura del territorio tutt’ora in corso, attraverso gli stracci testimoni degli incendi estivi naturali e dolosi nell’area dell’Aspromonte, successivamente sottoposti a un rituale lavaggio con la loro stessa cenere. Il risultato è la creazione di bandiere che rappresentano un paesaggio in fiamme, fungendo da manifesto di un fenomeno di devastazione rituale del territorio. Gli stracci, fissati su tralicci metallici come bandiere consunte e consumate dal tempo, evocano un’atmosfera di ritualità antica, suggerendo una poetica condivisa dell’attraversamento tra vita e morte e richiamando inoltre alcuni fantocci presenti nelle campagne e sulle montagne calabresi, con l’obiettivo di scoraggiare passanti e animali dall’entrare in quel territorio.

What remained of us is the result of an ongoing operation aimed at recovering and mapping the territory, through the use of rags that bear witness to both natural and deliberate summer fires in the Aspromonte area. These rags are then subjected to a ritual washing with their own ashes. The outcome is the creation of flags representing a landscape engulfed in flames, serving as a manifesto of a ritual devastation phenomenon of the territory. The rags, affixed to metal grids like weathered flags worn down by time, evoke an atmosphere of ancient ritual, suggesting a shared poetic of the passage between life and death.
